Jailbirds and hilltops

10.11.2014

Mr. Eak, Milla and Make at the Royal Park Rajapruek.

Today we decided to take Lax with us for a tuk tuk drive around the city. Eak took us to the Royal Park Rajpruek, which don't allow pets, but we walked around the outskirts of the park and managed to catch a few good photos. The park was near the mountains and pretty high above from the ground.
Good place for a photoshoot.

Enjoying the finer things in life.

First time in tuk tuk? We all good!

When we were done with walking we called Eak to pick us up. We smoked a cigarettes before leaving and the conversation turned in to Eak's huge back tattoo. He told us that he had stabbed someone to death, plead guilty to cut the sentence in half, and sat in prison for 8 years. They had made the tattoo in 3 months with a ballpoint pen and a quitar string, little by little when the guards didn't see them. Nowdays he's just an ordinary tuk tuk driver, and despite of his shady past, he was always lovely and nice towards us. An all-around nice guy.

After the park we went to take Lax back to the hotel, she was tired from the walking and playing in the heat. We continued to stroll around the city for a while. Tuk tuk is an excellent choice for this in Chiang Mai, it's pretty loud, but beats sitting in a normal taxi anyday, at least for urban driving.
We started to get hungry and asked if Eak could take us some place to eat.

He took us to a restaurant called The Riverside. Already at the door we noticed that The Riverside was an upscale restaurant and mostly filled with Asian turist. The restaurant was nearly full and the staff was too busy for a good customer service. It took us about 45 minutes to get the food, so I wouldn't recommend it for a quick bite. The food anyway was some of the best we've had and we still haven't found better Red Snapper (Ruby fish) anywhere in Thailand. The price range was slightly higher due to the upscale status.
After the late lunch it was time to get back to the hotel, the check out was the next morning by 11am.

Red Snapper with sweet and sour sauce. The pineapple sweet crust on the fish is superb!

The Riverside.
Great food, upscale, not if you're in a rush.
Great place for a romantic date, but make a reservation beforehand.
