The Flight

6.11.2014

Our travel-buddy "Xie Xie", hand made in China, thus the name meaning "Thank you" in Chinese.

When I was putting the dishes to dry for the last time, I stopped to wonder for a while if we're really leaving. Our friend Make came to pick us up at 9am to give us a lift to the airport (HEL).
I think our dog Lax had already figured out that something's going on, but when we started to pack our stuff in the car she got really excited and jumped gladly in the car.
After we got to the airport with all our baggage and got the dog kennel out and ready, I think she realized that we're not going to Make's parents for Summer Up -fesival, (where she comes with us every year) and refused to go to the kennel.

On the way to the airport!

We finally got the dog in the kennel and all our stuff on the roller and found our check in, I finally came one with the fact that we're leaving and along came the butterflies.
Didn't take long when an Aeroflot employee came to tell us that aeroflot had downshifted for a smaller airplane which didn't a have cargo spot for dogs. We were pointed towards the Aeroflot service desk to ponder our options.

At the desk Aeroflot employee told us that they had tried to call us prior to flight, but we had bought our tickets from ticket.fi, so they couldn't get our numbers. They even tried the number finder but both our numbers are not listed. The employee tried getting us on board for the next Finnair straight flight to Bangkok (the same flight our friend Make is supposed to fly after us) in bussiness class.
After an hour of trying, a visit to her supervisor and the Finnair service desk, they only managed to get us 2 business class tickets, but the cargo hold was full so Lax wouldn't fit on the flight.

So we had to change our flight to the same shedule (12:25pm), but one day later. Big thanks to Aeroflot service for trying so hard to get us in Bangkok on time (we had our connecting flight from Bangkok (BKK) to Chiang Mai (CNX) 3:10pm 8.11.) They even gave us 2x320€ personal vouchers (our flights were a total of 930€) that we can use for Aeroflot flights etc. We decided to use one of the vouchers to pay for Lax's flight (350€, oversize and overweight).

We almost got out of the sleets way, but not guite...

Aeroflot also paid for our hotel (Bonus Inn, Vantaa), 22€ dinner vouchers/person and breakfast. Airport taxi picked us up and took us to the hotel, where we could relax for a while before our flight the next day,
After we had some big ass stakes at the hotel, our friend Jonna came by to say hi. She had just dropped our friend Make to the airport, he was going to be in Bangkok before us after all.

Shitty guality in this one, last one we promise!

Only two pairs of socks, one pair wet and the other one packed in the middle of the rucksack, and the hotel was freezing!
